What you could do is put a nice pair of speakers that fit in the factory hole or get speaker boxes for 6x9s but those look cheap IMO. I just put in a pair of 6 1/2" JL's in my 01 Corolla which are 6 3/4" stock and had to cut out a template and carpet and put it over the hole on the rear deck because the speaker adapters don't work like they should/

    Rear Deck Speakers

I want to change my rear deck speakers. The problem is the hole back there is 5" i want to put in 6x9 speakers. Any ideas how to accomplish this. I was thinking of cutting about 4 3 inch slits into the metal and then bending the metal back to open up the hole, but am worried of how that would look and sound. Any ideas or suggestions? btw its a 98 corolla and when i first got it i had had no rear speakers just the 5" holes.
