If the filter has a paper element, than no re-oiling, it needs to be replaced. Most CAI and SRI's have a cotton element. In fact, I can't think of a single intake that doesn't have this type of element. Cotton elements need to be cleaned and re-oiled from time to time. Both K&N and TRD recommend about a 30k mile interval for "normal" driving. You can get the K&N cleaning kit from places like Auto Zone or Advanced Auto Parts...there about $10. TRD says not to use any cleaning kit but their's on their filter. I suspect the K&N kit would work, however the TRD and the K&N kits are different. I have a TRD in my Matrix and a K&N in my wife's RAV4, so I have both cleaning kits. I can tell you that the cleaner and the oil don't look the same between the kits. Any other brand of filter should be fine using the K&N kit, unless the manufacturer of the filter states otherwise. You can get the TRD kit at www.toyotaparts4u.com

    Hope this helps.

By the time my intake should arrive, i would still be in college and my car is at home... That means my dad willl have to get the dealer to install it for me cuz i have to find ou soon if theres anything wrong with the intake and i want to keep my warranty. Will the dealer automatically know to oil up my filter, or will my dad have to ask them to oil it up?

Your filter should come oiled and ready to use the first time. Even if you do the work yourself, it can't void your car warranty.

umm they all produce around the same HP...even if its 1-2hp more u wont feel any difference...but the TRD cAI doesnt have as much bends as the others allowing smoother air flow

:) Don't worry, Jessetc, [TRD]RoLLa meant maybe 1 or 2 HP difference between different CAI's, which claim a gain of about 10 HP. I have the finely crafted Injen CAIhttp://www.injen.com/webpages/intakes/intake_images/web_ready/rd/rd2065.jpg and am quite pleased with it. It doesn't have TRD's http://www.toyotaterritory.com/corolla.asp questionable rubber elbow at the throttle body's joint.
I recommend tying the relay/fuse box harness up in the fender hole, to prevent it from rubbing on CAI...
You will notice better response when driving conservatively, and it emits a deep howl that's proportional to throttle opening and RPM's...
By the way, I use Maxima's FAB-1 synthetic fabric and foam filter oil for high stability and superior protection. http://www.maximausa.com/products/filteroils/filterspray.asp I got mine from 'Faster Motocross' for only $5.21; http://www.faster-motocross.com/maxima-fab1-foam-filter-spray.html
Depending on conditions, you can go about 10000 to 20000+ miles between cleanings/oilings.
