Random question about TOM's...

    Random question about TOM's...

    Is TOM's an acronym for Toyota Motorsports? If so, what's the differnce between that and TRD? I always thought TOM's was a 3rd party tuning company, sort of like Greddy, or HKS.

    I think Tom's is Toyota Motorsports and TRD of course is Toyota Racing Development and i think the difference is that Tom's is for the Japanese market and TRD is for the american Toyota Market......ne1 feel free to corrrect me if im wrong...
    Theyre only Toyota.....like the JGTC Tom's Motor Sports team in Japan.

    TOMs and TRD have no affiliation.

    1974 Tom's Co. Ltd. was founded by Nobuhide Tachi, a former Toyota works driver and Kiyoshi Oiwa, who was engaged in sales of performance accessories for motor sports at a Toyota dealership.
    Although it was the time when the storm of the depression of an oil crisis is blowing violently at this time, they were the incorporation procedures which paid their attention to the possibilities of motor sports with healthy development of motorization.
    The capital is 2 million yen.
    The name of TOM'S comes from Tachi Oiwa Motor Sport.

    TOM'S,Inc. establishment
    Immediately started racing activities after set up of the company with the support of Toyota Motor Corporation.

    Officially recognized as a "ToyotaTuning Shop".

    so you see that TOMs was like the original toyota tuning peeps then toyota thought up TRD.

    haha nice Bang lol.... like in the few grand turismo games that the IS-300 is in there's a TOMS edition or w/e and that's how I kinda figured the whole relationship of it lol

    hahahah well. you know like that guy that makes/sells the body kits for the scions, whats his name, the really crappy stuff. hahaha anyway i thought it was like that. but tom wasnt making any more or he was busy, so thats why no one could get ahold of his kits.
