    Quick alternator question

I wanna replace the wire giong from my alternator to my battery.
From wat i can tell that wire that you can easily see from the engine compartnment covered by a rubber cap is the positive one going to that fusebook next to the passager front headlight. From there it runs to my battery.
So am i right to assume thats the positve?
Also where is the negitve on the alternator i can't seem to find it....
    thanks
    PS
Reason why i'm changing the wire is because i made the main cable too short when i put in my battery terminals and i added on a 4 guage onto it but its done in a ghetto way by means of twisting it on and duck taping it. So now i wanna do it the right way b4 it gets too cold.
So i found the cables to do it at in autozone and i figure i'll do it soon

sounds right to me but you can do an easy check with a voltmeter. the car will run without the alternator just fine for a few minutes so, you could pull off the terminal and compare the voltage to the block. also for the grounding.. I believe that is done through the engine block, hence why there is no terminal. but don't quote me!!!

hmmm it makes sense i guess cause when i put in the ground fusion grounding kit it made me ground from the chassis to this brown metal peice next to my alternator and from there to a point on the engine block and then back down to my tranny.... So i guess thats how its done....

as a check you can download the wiring diagrams in the tech docs section too.

Do grounding kits really help that much, and where do you mount the kit at? Sorry if this sounds stupid.

to the engines ground system and usually near the sparkplugs

do you just find a place near the spark plugs on the firewall, cause I Was thinking about a grounding kit, but I have no Idea how to hook one up, I will start another thread so I'm not jacking his.
