Question about MPG for AE101 owners.

I'm trying to figure out how many gallons I have left when my gas light comes on. I know Corolla gas lights fade on and off sometimes, but when mine comes on and stays on, I've usually gone only around 270 or 280 miles on a tank. Say there are 3 gallons left in the tank when the light comes on, that means I'm only getting 27 or 28 mpg at a very generous estimate. I thought the car should be getting better than that.

Do you think the gauge is off, or does this mpg sound about right to you?

I think the light comes on at 2 gallons left. So your safe for about 40 miles.

Ok cool. The car gets decent MPG, but the tank is just so damn small I find I'm filling up just as often as my friends.

I get upwards of 300 miles per tank when I don't speed too much. Rather, I get 300 miles till the empty light comes on which turns out to be after approx 10 gallons have been used.

SO when all is said and done I get 26-36 mpg, depending on where I drive.

I checked my average mpg yesterday. This is with some hard driving, like 5000 rpm shifts all 1 night, then next day with all interstate style. But i came out to like 26-27mpg.

My car has no torque until you rev the shit out of it, so I find I'm just about always driving "aggressively."
