I heard that u should get it fitted on first, then have it painted. So, that way, if it needs to be adjusted when u go to install it, you don't go messin up the paint job on it.

That's right...It should be fitted, preped, then painted...Most of the times, the body kits will never be perfect, and they will have to be fabricated a little. That's what happened with both of my rear bumpers. They had to be re-glassed and extended to the fenderwell.

Oh and all kits dont have to be molded and I dont recommend it because if you bottom out, not only will you chip and break the bottom, but there will be a big ass crack where it was molded. Personally, I dont think you should mold your daily driver car.

    question about kit and paint

To those of you who had your body kits painted. Did you put the kit on before you took it to have it painted? Seems like it'd be easier for them to just paint it with it off.

If done correctly, they mold it into your car....so theyd have to paint after install.

Well I'm not putting my back bumper on and that seems to be the main problem with most of what I have seen. I will put the kit on first though. I'm considering doing the painting myself but I need to get a lot more info first.

I got a bomex kit for $320 shipped in my garage right now. I'm not puttin on the rear bumper though I don't like it. I'm gonna come up with something creative for the rear.

Is there anywhere I could read about how to prep a car? I'd like to do the prep work myself and then just have someone else do the actual painting.

Does anyone have tips for using bondo? I need to fix a few spots on the kit before I can even prep it for paint.

I never attempted to get it but you can ask the sellers on ebay.

For fiberglass repairs I recommending fiberglass resin jelly over bondo.. bust build up to a lil higher than whats needed and sand smooth.

There is a group buy on VIS carbon fiber hoods right now and VIS also makes body kits for our cars. I just ordered a CF hood and a body kit from them and got a pretty killer price. You can just go to the group buys forum and ask about body kits and I am sure they will hook you up. Mine took 9 days to get here and I believe it was $330 + $120 shipping for the full kit.
