    Question About Blue Xenon Bulbs (eurodezigns)

    Got a set to replace my high and low beams today.
    I noticed these are rated at 100W instead of the usual 55W.
    The company's website says it is safe for most vehicles (i.e. won' t burn the wiring harness).

    I installed the darned things today. Yes the lights have a nice blueish tint. I don't see any real difference in brightness tho. But the blue tint does look cool.

    Anyone on the forum has had any experience with these Eurodezign bulbs? Is the wiring harness at risk? They were cheap, so I would replace the stock bulbs again, if I am risking spending a lot on a new harness.

    well, took the car for a ride with the new bulbs.
    So far, so good,. Couldn't notice any unsual overheating of the wires. No extraneous smells.
    The headlight housing was hot, for a high wattage bulb, so no surprises here. No signs of melting.
    Time will tell I guess.

    I'd be careful, you dont wanna melt your wiring if you keep them on a while. I'd get a wire harness from Jae or Stinky, much better to spend the $50 now rather than alot more later when you need to replace your wiring.

    Well, I wrote the guys of Eurodezign and this is what they wrote:

    They also offer free lifetime replacement warranty. You just pay 6 bucks or so for shipping and handling. Sounds good to me.

    By wiring harness, is this the whole wire assembly or just the bulb end connections?
    The fiberglass thing makes sense. Tho.

    Curiously you can't notice the blue tint on the pic, but it is certainly very visible.

    mmmm perhaps they should have said something like, the wattage is not really 100 W, so no danger to overheating the harness or something.

    Obviously the wiring harness is the whole shebang, not just the connection end...

    To be honest, with the engine running for a while everything inside the hood will heat up considerably. When I grabbed the wiring harness it felt somewhat hot, but then again, everything else surrounding it. Other wires, A/C hoses, etc...

    Man i dont think i would trust that guy's response. This grammer wasnt too good. As for the color of the bulbs, the higher the number(Like 5k or 7.5k) then the more blue the light will be. Man i would assume thats dangerous to be running bulbs twice the Wattage.

    I searched eBay, and these Eurodezigns bulbs are all over the place!
    Man over 200 pages of auction listings!!
    They are from multiple sellers that use exactly the same descriptions.
    I checked the feedback on some of these sellers.
    They are mostly positive.
    However, I have become weary of the fact that they draw more current (higher wattage) than the regular bulbs...
    Thinking about taking them off. Damn! i was so happy with my new blue tints!!

    That guy was just telling you the connectors wouldn't burn from the heat, but what about the wires where the electricity is flowing, they get hotter.

    well, I have been driving with the new bulbs quite a bit. Commuting to work. So far, no signs of overheating. I would think a fuse would blow if the current capacity of the wires is exceeded. That's what fuses are for.

    So, if the bulb itself is design to prevent overheating/melting of the headlight assembly, I should be fine. Another alternative would be to lower the headlamp fuse rating as a safety measure.
