Proper Tire Air Pressure

I know you can check on the drivers side door panel for the proper tire air pressure, but i have after market rims, and i run on 205/45-16. Can somebody tell me what is the proper air pressure for these tires?

Would 35psi w/cold tires be the right pressure? or 33psi when the tires are cool be better?

32 all around is factory. You typically will set the air pressure higher for mostly highway driving. Higher air pressure also reduced understeer circumstantially in some autocross/high speed maneuver situations as well.

The best thing to do is a chalk test.

First take some chalk and put it across the tread width of the tire, then move the car so the tire rolls a few times. If the chalk goes away uniformly, then your tire pressure is good. If there's excess on the sides, you need to release some pressure.

i set mine at 35...and 30 in the winter

what you do is look at the tire and see what it says. i know it might seem a little difficult to get down on one knee and read, but it will have all your information.

dont set it at max pressure. if anything other than factory recommended, go a couple psi higher. the tires max pressure is higher than factory equipped tires so that they can be marketed and sold to a much wider range of vehicles. your specific vehicle tire pressure is determined by the weight of your vehicle. a direct replacement + sized wheel and tire will not need a significant difference in pressure, typically never lower than recommended.

again... i set my 215/45/17s at 35psi.

i read an article somewhere that said if you have stock wheels like 185/65/14, your air pressure should be around 28 psi... (please note this is for a honda civic)...

increasing the tire by 1 size lets say 195/55/15 .... the air pressure should be 32 psi...

increasing the tire by 2 size like 205/45-16 ... the air pressure should be around 36psi...
does this sound right?

^^ I don't know about the increasing pressure, but I have a friend with an accord and his tire pressure is like 28, and I remember thinking that seems way too low.

I run 34 cold in my Civic in the Corolla it was 32 or 34 cold can't remember

factory recommended is 30psi for 185/65/14

but i usually run 32psi for all 4 corners.
