    product review!!! K&N baby

i just purchased and installed a new K&N filter for my corolla. first i must mention that i have a TRD CAI and i was replacing the year old filter that was on it... well here it goes...

gas mileage: i am saving so much gas with this damn thing; i am averaging 400 miles on one tank! and thats with me testing out the performance features of this filter too ;)

performance: i was a dead even match with my friends CL 2.2 when he had intake headers and exhaust only. now he added nology 9mm spark plug wires. even with that mod, i still managed to beat him by a car lenght today after installing my filter!

also this filter produces a lot louder deeper sound, idk if thats a good thing or not... cause i was testing it out down the street like a half mile away and my mother said she heard me

anyway this mod is definatly worth the 50 bucks in my mind

    K&N filter

I bought the K&N high flow filter for my factory air box for my 01 Corollaa S 5 speed and my mileage dropped a few mpg....i have 2 1/4" piping and a high flow muffler and just replaced my plugs with Bosch Platinum 2+. i have 160 on half a tank so far and I'm not sure how you are gettin 400 miles on a tank or is that highway mileage...i used to get 32 in town and 42 on the highway and now its a little less.

really...well the filter i had on before was really dirty and i did notice a drop in gas mileage with that, in fact i calculated about 20miles to a gallon driveing in town and on highways, mainly highway mileage for me...but now its up to 380 was the most i got out of the K&N and thats with me flooring it at every chance i could, damn i love that sound

    K&N Filter

What kind of muffler and piping do you have on your car and is it to the resonator or the cat?, mine is the the resonator and my mileage is good but used to be better, it does make a deeper sound tho and its nice

Fuel milage is a hit or miss situation. A cold air intake or K&N air filter can give you better MPG or it can reduce your MPG while giving you more hp, remember it takes more fuel to make more hp. So the more air introduced into the engine the more fuel is required to keep the air fuel ratio correct. On the other hand a dirty air filter will cause Lower MPG because the engine is straining harder to make more power by dumping more fuel into the engine.
