    Product Review: Eneloop Batteries

So I recently bought some Sanyo Eneloop Batteries which is supposed to give you power more quickly than other rechargeable batteries, retain charge for a longer period of time from off and on use and retain battery life for a longer period of time. You can find all the details on wikipedia and stuff or on their website (http://www.eneloopusa.com).

Anyway, I have to say this is by far the best investment ever for me so far this year. As some of you may know, I do take photos and I constantly use a lot of batteries. I normally used Lithium Batteries such as the Energizer "e" Batteries for digital cameras because they last a lot longer than NiMH Rechargeable. But these batteries last longer and operate better than most rechargeable batteries. I also have in the past used alkaline batteries for items such as flash lights or computer mice because they last longer for off and on use but These Eneloop batteries are good for both. And lastly, to be environmentally friendly, these batteries are more easily disposable than regular NiMH or Alkaline Batteries.

One of the real cool things about these batteries is that I can take a AA size battery and put it in a C or D size battery adapter and convert my AA to a C or D size as well. The other thing is these batteries are lighter weight.

I have to say that this battery set I bought at costco was by far the best investment of the year. I bought it thinking it was too good to be true with all the information written on the box but I needed some and for a good price of $26.99 I bought them and after I got home, I researched it online and sure enough, they were rated very well but everyone. The Package I bought for $26.99 includes (8) AA Size Batt. (4) AAA Size Batt. (2) C Size Adapters, (2) D Size adapters, (1) charger that charges 4 batteries at a time. On Amazon.com, buying a pack of (4) AA batteries and (4) AA Size + Charger = $30+ so I really feel like I got my moneys worth.

There is unfortunately one downside to these batteries. They retain their charge very well for a long time but when the charge runs out, it goes out real quick. For example, on an electronic device such as a camera, you will see a battery bar chart thing that tells you how much battery life is left. On a regular battery, that bar will slowly go down as you use the battery power. With the Eneloop batteries, the charge will basically say 80-100% the whole time until the charge runs out and then all of a sudden the battery chart says 0%.

If you are like me and use a lot of batteries for multiple uses and you want to make a small contribution to the world's environment, I would say buy these batteries. you'll love it. Also a great Xmas gift for the price if you buy it at Costco like me.

EDIT: Also if you buy these batteries now, you can get free spacers (the C and D Battery Adapters) free. *Linky*
