    Problems / Reliability?

    I was wondering if anyone knew of any issues with the 2000~2005 Toyota Celica GT with the automatic transmission. My gf is looking at getting a newer car and that is one at the top of a short list... I know its the same basic engine as the Corolla so that should be more than good enough, but I don't know much about the automatic transmissions or if there is anything specific to the Celica that could be problematic or that we should look out for. Thanks!

    early celica/corolla 1zz's had issues with the vvt-i actuators failing.. (2000 rolla and 00-01 celica I believe).. not sure what else

    friend had an 01 celica and blew his tranny(vvt-li failed or something) and he got a later model and no problems
