To be more careful, do the "Disconnect the battery and wait like 10 mins before working on it" thing, and then switch on the headlight for couple times. Or disconnect the ECU too.

You do know that you just killed your warranty if you do so?

What do you mean second skin?

how would it void my warranty? I am not doing any engine mods. second skin is a sound deadener like dynamat extreme but better and cheaper. I don't see why the dealer would have a fit or how quieting up my car would the dealer reject fixing my engine if in case it broke.

How would that cause the air bag light one? I think he just take out the airbag temporary for "install some second skin". He will put it back for sure.

    How would it not?

From the sound of things, he seems to know very little of what he's about to do. Messing around with the electrical system should be the last thing someone like that should do. But hey, it's his car, so I guess he can do whatever the hell he wants.

I wouldn't go so far as to say that I am totally inadequate for the job. I’ve installed alarms, sound systems and many many other accessories. I only asked about the airbags because I know each car is different and certain manufactures might have different steps you have to take for deactivating certain things. This being a corolla forum I figured some one might have done it or knows how. I was going to disconnect the battery no matter what I just didn’t know if there is something else since in past experiences I’ve always worked on older cars .

just discconnect the battery and you will be fine, i done it on my car and the ECU wont recognize that you have taken the air bag off before because theres no power going to the ecu anyway...just plug it in and then connect the battery again.
