    Powerdyne Superchargers

I contacted Powerdyne about a possible application for Corolla's and I'm waiting for them to get back to me. The idea of turbo is awesome but I want something that is a little easier to install. And these powerdyne superchargers basically replace your A/C compressor in the same bracket and pull its power from your cars belt drive. And that is it. No messing with manifolds, downpipes, etc, etc. Plus they make 6 - 15 psi boost based on the pully size and they require no oil lines for cooling. You can even use an intercooler so I'm thinking that I may pioneer this if they get back to me and just buy one of the chargers and fabricate the bracket for it and tie it right into my engine. Then I'll get a fuel management setup so I don't blow my motor up. I think a supercharged 1zz-fe would be kind of cool since it would help it make power in the low end. Anyways what do you guys think?

For the money involved, you could have a *nice* turbo setup. And you have to give up your a/c. But other than that, they're really cool! :D

I've talked to them before....you could have just asked me....the cost of there kit is 3000.00 thats the import kit....then you have to get somebody to make the custom bracket and intercooler...i believe...something like that....and yeah those sound bad ass....they sent me info and charts of the different types of chargers they have and the best 1 they have is the oil less setup....man i have a turbo setup but hey they sell you mostly everything you need and if they were to just draw up designs of how the bracket should be made you could have somebody make it for you......but let me know what you decide on....

Actually I was just going to buy the head unit (500 - 600) on ebay and fabricate the rest of the setup myself. I have access to raw metal, cutter, welder and bender so I could totally make my own bracket with little trouble. What else would I really need other then fuel management and a blowoff valve?

Dude, if you could give me the name of one of the places selling the units for $600 I may have to throw down and buy one. The major appeal is ofcourse is that the install wouldn't be nearly as complex as a turbo since all I would have to fab is a bracket and piping.

i'd rather have teh power steering out instead of my A/C but something like that does sound pretty neat. but i agree with Dr. T and just stay with a turbo.

i was going by the first post. if i could get a supercharger in my 01 i would definatley go for it but nothing is going to get installed till i get back or more so even later. right no i am no longer driving my car and it sits in the garage with only 55K miles.I have it sitting on blocks and with fluid stabilizers. but if i had the choice of a turbo or a supercharger without having to remove my ac or pw i will go for it but if not i'd go for the turbo.

It is a 2001 Corolla. That would rule if you could see what kind of design would be needed. Let me know if you find anything out. Turbo is totally badass but I'm thinking starting from dead scratch the powerdyne supercharger would actually be easier but I need to do a bit more research.

Yeah I agree, I really don't want to loose power steering or A/C. But I think with a longer supentine belt the super charger could fit in there on its own with a modified bracket.

if there is any way they could put it in the back would be good only the heat from the header manifold is the only problem i think unless heat shield it added or put on.
