Power Lock/ Keyless Entry question

I want to install power locks in my 04 CE but I would also want a keyless entry as well. If I buy a power lock kit which I've seen for around $45, how would I be able to get Toyota's Keyless Entry system to work? They have the remotes on E-Bay for $10, would I have to buy some kind of unit for keyless entry to work becuase I read the LE and S with power locks can be programmed for keyless entry. Thanks for the help in advance.

youd definatly need a receiver. having just a remote is like having a cell phone but no cell phone towers.

I don't think you can install Toyota's keyless entry system on aftermarket locks. I could be wrong, though.

Whether you go with Toyota's system or aftermarket, you'll have to install the ECU and do some cabling. It's a lot more than just buying the remote off eBay.

Where could I find an ECU that would work with the factory remote or would I be better off just getting a power lock system that has keyless entry included??

Just about any remote entry ECU will have its own remotes included with it. You're better off just getting one of those and forgetting about using a Toyota remote. I'm pretty sure those only work with factory remote entry systems anyway.

yea, just get the actuators, relays, and an aftermarket alarm that was made to control power locks..Im selling a set of actuators and relays in the for sale forum.
