    Power cable through firewall

Has anybody found an ingenious, non-destructive method for getting a power cable from the battery through the firewall?

    Thanks.

I cut a slit in the large grommet that is on the driver's side above where the steering column passes through. I cut a slit in it with a knife and just shoved the cable through... worked pretty good. I believe all of those wires in that bundle head to the ECU.

    Power through firewall

So if I decide to run power for interior neons, trunk neons, amp, cd changer, etc.; Do I run one fat power cable and create another fuse box, or run each line seperate with its own in line fuse? Can these lines cause any interference with ecu?

Trying to layout and plan future installs, but I am not sure how much and what sort of wiring/fuses are necessary.

The wire for your audio system should be used ONLY for your audio system. You could run all of your interior neons off of one battery/switch, just make sure you run a think enough cable and use a switch that can handle all of the current that the neons demand.

Depends on how serious you are

If you really wanna go all the way just run like a 12gadge wire and make a new fuse box its safer to do b/c all lights become more independent like if on grounds out wrong you screwed if you dont have a fuse on everyone. In my last car I had problems with my wires I was very careful the second time I did my install I have a fuse right after the battery and a fuse block near the amp I jsut like being careful after some of the problems my firends and I have had..... The day you start up your friends dads truck after working on his supra all day and hearing a BIG BANG with scare you to deaf make sure you reconect the battery termails very well for your cars sake.

Sweet, the 2003 has grommets?, when i checked out the car in the show room, i didn't see any...

With my old Corolla 99, i ran the wires, threw the floor pannels of the car, are those easily removed on the 03 as well?

they are talking about the rubber grommet that goes around the wires going into the inside of the car. If you have an auto there should also be a rubber pluc wheret he clutch would come out at.

I just cut a coat hanger at an angle and poked it through the outer edge of the gormmet, then hooked the wire onto it and pulled it all through. Worked good and was a little safer than handliung a knife around ecu wires.

Do you think a 4awg will go through that hole? How wide is it?

    Thanks much.
