    Possible buy...

    Looking for opinions here. :)
One of my Lieutenents is seling his '99 Eclipse Spyder GST and a '94 Honda Prelude for $5,500 or best offer. I was thinking about picking up the Prelude in addition to my 04 Corolla that I have to have something to mod out and something new that is dependable.

I looke on nada.com and a 94 prelude with 159,000 miles goes for about $5k. well the chassis has 159k but the engine has 60k on it.

...What do you guys think? Should I try to pick it up for 4,500? I'd buy the GST but he want's 12k and I don't have that. Too bad though. He's modded the crap out of it and it puttin down 380 whp. :(

hmmm tough choice but I'd have to go with the prelude on this one H22 powa baby!!! plus 2g dsm's SUCK MAJOR MONKEY AZZ!!!!! too many problems with those things specially when they're modded, even though 380 whp is a lot BUT not worth the risk of breakdown paying 12 g's... but that's just me.

neither, the preludes appearance had a major positive facelift when they did the body redesign, and they are vastly available for 6-7k if you truly want one. i am not a huge fan of the older body

mitsu= breakdown, Honda= reliability, I'd go with the prelude 4WS four wheel steering can't beat that turning and road grabbing.

eh, im not sure.....im not a fan of eclipses cuz theyre always breakin down....n the fact that the prelude has 159k on it doesnt look too appealing either....id go w/ the eclipse if i had to choose tho just cuz of that mileage on the prelude..

id still go with the prelude. because if you really think about it the engine has on 60k and thats really all that matters and the tranny on those things can last forever really. The eclipse is okay if you want to spend the flow, but the lude has more aftermarket support overall and regardless if its an si or not it still had a lot going for it and it you plan to mod it it will only increase the perfomance at a high rate.

    yea Honda:

    1. Reliable
    2. You can find parts and fix them for a penny.
    3. More Aftermarket options.

    DSM:

    1. Too many problems, specially with 2g ones.
    2. Chrysler motor
    3. Lots of power and looks, aftermarket parts too but Xpensive to fix

you should be getting adequate flow, considering your current status but yeah it takes time just forget the eclipse and go for the lude.

I'd get the Prelude too, the DSM's can be made to go very fast (but they break alot), a friend of mine has a 1G DSM, the car hasn't been on the road for more than a day or two for 4 months now. About 4 months ago, he got the motor putting down just under 400whp, and since then, there has always been something breaking... so go with the Prelude, drop in an H22 with bolt-ons (or turbo if you have the cash, just build the turbo'd H22 properly) and have fun!
