    porting the heads...

my friend anthony ported the heads on his 95 2.o L jetta and it gave him a great boost in hp. he said that he could do the same for my 4afe 1.6L in my 94 corolla. has anyone ever done anything like this? will it harm anything as long as it's done right? also other than intake, header, cat and exhaust is there anything I can do to squeeze more power out of this engine rather than swapping it out? has anyone successfully turbo charged this engine? thanks for anyhelp with any of these questions

I've ported my header... Never dynoed it, but I notice a little more pull in the upper powerband, not anything to get too excited over.

As far as your cylindar head, you can make it flow better, increasing power. You should really take it to someone that knows what they are doing. If it's done wrong you'll get soggy low end power. Don't know about the turbo...
Building up the engine with forged pistons and rods etc. and turboing is the best way to get power out of it. Other than that, everything else is minimal gains.

There's really nothing to it, but you can take too much off. There are kits out there that come with everything you need, including templates for your particular head. With a turbo system you'll be putting more money into it than the car is worth.
