Pissed off at the fucking body shop.

So when I dropped off my car to get the windshield fixed, my alarm was working fine. I hadn't used my keys to open the doors in forever (I even have those keyhole covers in place). When I got it back, it wasn't working anymore. I finally determined that the problem was with the remote. The service writer was pretty cool and said he would try to see if he could get it covered, but the manager was like "Even if it was dropped, we drop keys all the time and the remotes don't break. I don't feel we're responsible for it." Whatever. The fact is my alarm remote worked when I dropped it off and it didn't when I got it back. Simple as that. I wouldn't be so irate about it if the remote didn't cost me over $130 to replace.

Yeah, but can you do body work, repaint the car, and replace the windshield?

Hey Vamp, they probably knicked your antenna wire with the cold knife as they were cutting the urethane when they removed the windshield. Check your antenna module plug to see if it's loose, and pull your antenna wire out it should be tucked under the headliner and down the a-pillar. I hope it's just that! Does your remote LED light up or does the LCD come on?

No, it's the remote. The old remote doesn't send out the signal any more, but it still recieves. If I arm the alarm with the new remote, the status on the old remote updates.

thank god i can, and D you should have them pay for it regardless, if it was working correctly and messed up when you got it back its thier fault regardless and should be thier responsibility since the vehile was in thier care at the time of the incident.

So you can arm your alarm system with the newer remote, but your doors don't pop?

Is there anybody higher up than who you spoke too, like the owner maybe? I'd keep trnig to get my money for the remote, maybe even bring them to small claims court...

i can unlock and lock and arm and disarm with the new remote, but the old remote doesn't send any signal out to the alarm, but it will recieve a signal from the car when the status changes because of my new remote. I don't know if there's anyone else up the chain.

seems as if thought the internal chip got damaged when dropped and be careful as it may interfere and wined up disarming and unlocking the vehicle.Check up on a higher authority.

remove the battery from the old remote and just take the old one to a electronics shop if you want to get i fixed but its your choice.

I like the idea of small claims. You'd win, its just a matter of if you have a few hours to spare.

You should just give whoever that works on the car the valet key, they dont even need the remote for the alarm.
