Phoenix Tuning is going FULLTIME in the very near future!

Well everyone, I've had just about enough of working nights, and several other things have gotten me seriously thinking about going fulltime out in the shop. For one thing, I'm tired of my job, and I really want to be able to dedicate more time out in the shop so that I can turn these swaps out faster. Plus, I want more flexablility in my own life.

That said, I'm now actively working towards making Phoenix Tuning a fulltime shop. I've already registered the business in the state of VT, and most of the related paperwork is taken care of.

Plans for the future include more engine swaps, developing turbo kits and other performance parts for the '90s and newer Celicas and Corollas, and eventually other cars, along with doing wiring harness conversions. I may dabble in buying, fixing, and selling cars as well, if those things don't keep me busy enough.

So, if you've thought about having an engine swap done, but you need it done quicker than a timeframe that I've previously given you, now's the time to hit me up again. And please spread the word!

Right now the launch date is looking to be in the next 4-5 months or so, by that time I'll have all of my debt paid off and the last of the tools that I need bought. So, end of May is the preliminary date!

Damn it's ashame you dont live in MD, There is a shop with a lift you could rent/buy and with your knowledge and my parts discount and mechanical ability... that would be nice.

...maybe we could import him to MD? i could help out on weekends...and i'm good with publicity...

There was a shop called New Again in Silver Spring, MD that has just about everything a speed shop needs. They went out of business, but they had maybe 6 bays, 4 of them with lifts, a showroom for cars/parts/audio equipment, parking, a paint booth and room for bodywork to be done.

I'm sure there are other facilities out there, but this one is nice because it already has everything set up. MOVE TO MD!!!

You know guys, I've driven to MD many a time for a one day meet. Coming up to VT to drop your car off for a swap isn't that far... I've had plenty of people come here from NY, NJ, etc to have swaps done.

Really there are tons of more opportunities down here. You could get business from across the East Coast instead of just the North East.

Okay, how much would it cost me to buy a two or three-bedroom house with a decent yard and a two or three-car garage, something a little out of town, that doesn't need a lot of work?

You could probably find something in the $400,000 range in Rockville, Silver Spring or Gaithursburg, MD. All of those are Montgomery County, MD suburbs, which are right outside the city.

Prices can go up to $700,000 or more pretty quickly though depending on the neighborhood.

See, Doc? You could almost buy a freakin' town up here for that much..

that's also THE MOST EXPENSIVE part of the state, and one of the most expensive areas of the COUNTRY. Harford County is much more affordable, as is eastern Baltimore County. you might want to call a local realtor about it.

if you like, i can ask my parents for their realtor's info...she was pretty good. she helped us get our house and we kept her around to help us sell my grandmother's house, for decent prices(beneficial to us, anyway...) in both transactions.

Let me lay it out like this for you guys. I bought my house, which is a duplex, one side (mine) is three bedroom, one and 1/2 bath, big kitchen, living room, etc. (I'm doing some renovation but it's in fine condition just the way it is). The other side, which I rent out for $650 a month including heat, is a nice two bedroom. I have a large, fenced-in yard, and a pretty decent two-car garage. I live right in town, less than a minute from the parts store and grocery store. The neighborhood is nice too, and, unlike most of the state of Vermont, we have a full-time police dept. And I'm about 30 seconds from the hospital, ambulance bay, and fire dept.

The price I paid for my house?

Are you fucking kidding me? I don't blame you. I hadn't seen a house cost less than $100,000 before I went down to school in Atlanta. Wow that's really a nice deal.

uhmmm a house that large in md in rockville, gaithersburg or silver spring would be 700K easily that you got for 77.....

Uhmm 400K will get ya a beat up no garage house tho.... in an ok neighborhood

that's why i said that area is one of the highest in the country.




though i don't know anywhere in MD that'll get a guy that size house for under $100k.

all you MD people need to sell your houses and move up to Vermont where you get buy a mansion with your own butler.

my career is here...and they're paying for my education at one of the best schools in the country. no thanks.

Actually, there's more truth to that than you think - Massachusetts people have been buying real estate here in NH. Since land is worth more in MA, they buy lots of property here and drive the prices up, making it harder for NH residents to afford to buy their first house. It sucks, really..

try shopping in MD...you'll never complain about house prices up there again.

I have no reason to shop in MD -- and it's expected to be high there. Up here, it wasn't high..compared to the rest of the country, it really isn't either -- but compared to what it was, it's high. You won't come up here and make 80k/yr, either..not in northern NH, anyway..condos near ski areas go for well over $200,000 -- you might pay $1000/week to rent one..it's getting crazy.
