I don't think that is removable. It's only removed to replace the unit. The airbag is all packed inside there. If you remove the cover it might be impossible to pack it all back in later.

you cant remove it. its like removing the center piece of your steering wheel. if you are going to replace with carbon fiber, just remove your airbag. even if you were able to somehow replace the cover with carbon fiber, the CF will not let the air bag deploy which means its either gonna be CF or stock. that is unless you decide to put like a CF textured sticker on. but according to the manufacture, even putting stickers on will dramatically reduce the effect of the air bag. my advice...if you want to go carbon fiber, replace your whole dash with carbon fiber. thats cool, other wise, bits and pieces of carbon fiber in your car would make it look more ricy

thanks for the info . i dont wanna pull my airbags out until i get my prego wife her own car. "the responsible thing to do". once she gets her a family car , for mostly her and our child , the corolla is gonna go thru some drastic changes.:)

wow! Then you can strip down all the interior (or at least take out the rear seat) to save some weight.
"some drastic changes"? Very interesting, what are you gonna do actually? I really want to know. :D

i actually had my back seat out , for a while . my prizm i had was completely stripped. nothing but seats , dash , instruments , and headliner (insulation from the sun , it gets kinda hot down here in the south.) no a/c , no srs , no a/c parts , nothing. when i took all the scrap to the junkyard , i brought them 473 lbs. of ish.

    as for future mods :
1.anyone know where to get a big brake kit for the 7th gens ?
    2.rear disc conv.
3.headache bar (like on a 4wd truck , light weight and does the job.)
4.ive got some of my own plans drawn up on some chassis stiffining , i wanna do.)
    5.muffler and tag relocation
    6.3sgte crammed in it.:)
7.front mount inter cooler , aftermarket turbo , exhaust.
8.teins w/ edfc .(pssst. hey. the wrx models fit our cars , keep it on the d/l )

nothing too drastic w/ the engine , its already gonna be difficult b/c of its weight on the front end , and i figure with that kinda power to weight ratio , some good bolt ons will do the job.
