    Paint for interioir

I want to paint my interior, but I don't really want to use spray paint because I have an air compressor and would rather use my paint gun that I already have. I think it would give a finer mist than spray paint.

What kind of paint should I get for the interior? and where can I get it? I don't know if I should just go to Home Depot and get regular paint or not.

My paint gun looks like this:

it will depend on how you prep it and depending on the amount time you want to spend. since you have a paint gun you might as wheel prep it for automotive paint.

well, I was planning on doing good prep work, and putting some filler primer to get it smooth. Then base and clear coat.

My main question would be where can I get automotive paint. I've looked on line but not really sure what is good.

Edit: By the way, what I want to do is paint it so it looks like carbon fiber. It requires using a mesh, and I would need a really fine mist so thats why I didn't want to use spray paint. I will need black, graphite, and silver. And I would then need to clear coat on top to get the look I want.

do a search for auto paint on yahoo local or go to a auto body shop around your area and ask them to mix you paint and buy it. if you're going to try something like the carbon fiber paint, i hope you do a test panel first with curves. it will most likely not turn out how you want on the tighter curves.

Are you talking about soft surfaces like your dash and console?

I assume you will be removing it. I don't see how you could mask everything off.

Yeah, I'll be taking everything out. And I'm talking about the hard surfaces. For the soft vinyl I'm thinking of stripping it and using the hard material underneath, then painting it. But I'll be using filler primer to make everything smooth

I just hate tan interiors. I want it to be black, but I'm thinking now of doing like a charcoal/graphite/dark grey color

I have a grey stock interior and used flat black on different parts of the consoles. Took the main bezels that are connect to the dash and did them all flat black. Along with the pillars, door sills, and floor mats. It came out very nice and looks very factory. No one notices and when i tell them they dont believe me. I have a few scuffs on my pillars cause of the seat belt but i refuse to use clear coat cause it will give it a glossy shine and i am not the biggest fan of it. Haven had good luck with clear coats. I always get dust in it or something

Thats the a-pillar LOOK CLOSE lol. Looks factory as hell

this pic came out as shit but it looks better in life.

I want to make that bottom portion of the console. (glove box etc.) black. Followed by accenting the curvature parts, of the dash, in black.

I used regular paint from Canadian Tire and painted my entire interior red and blue and it looks great but the problem is that i didn't know anything about painting and layered it too thick instead of misting it and its pealing off easily in some spots. I would suggest taking your time and using good paint with your paint gun which i was too impatient for:p Maybe i'll post pics but i would like to see how yours turns out

wow. This thread is so old that the paint gun in the first post is not the same. But I've checked out that site before and I'm going to use his method for parts. I've decided that i'm going to paint everything below the dashboard black, and everything above it will stay tan. I noticed that even on black interiors the headliner is always tan.
