it is his opinion and you should respect it.

By placing a title like that, you are trying to make him look like the bad guy before reading the article, when all he is doing is posting his opinion.

I agree with the articles up to the 8th paragraph and the last 3.
after that he just rants about laws that restricted him of having total freedom.

I didn't feel that way about the subject title - a well known saying that everyone has his/her opinion that may or may not be how you feel about the topic.

I agree that that is the writer's opinion and one must respect that - doesn't mean you have to agree with it.

Clarkson is one of those guys that loves to rub some people the worng way (he got pied in the face by some "green" activists when he was awarded an honorary doctorate at Oxford Brookes University in Oxford.) Personally, I can't fault a guy with an appreciation for high powered, gas guzzling cars and doesn't give in easily to other people's BS. Doesn't mean that I agree with all of his articles or some of the conclusions they get on Top Gear shows.

Like most articles - one shows only one particular aspect of what happened and backed up with that person's opinion of what transpired. Lots of people are going to be pissed off that he correlates the hurricane as nothing more than "a bit of wind and rain" and that the "rest of the world has natural disasters without the whole of society falling to pieces". If it showed all sides of the story - the article probably would be too lengthy to publish and be boring as hell. You're not going to sell many papers unless you got something to snag people's attention (good and bad).

There are some aspects of the article that I can agree with - that SOME "Americans don't have enough brains to walk on their back legs". The rest of the article was just a rant against the US and its population.

True, what happened in the aftermath of Katrina was quite disturbing - but you could say that is part of human nature. Everyone is driven by biology and instinct, molded by societal norms and customs (culture), behavior formed with interation with our local enviroment - mix them together and what do you get? Something seems normal to some and totally whack to others.

Take little kids for example (parents can attest to this) - tell them not to eat the cookies that sit infront of them. As long as you right there - they probably won't do anything. As soon as you turn your back or leave their sight - those cookies are GONE. Will all kids do that? - no, all part of how you bring the kid up and that kid's natural instincts and tendancies.
