    ? on intake

i have a chance to get a cold air intake from someone who is actually on this site. i believe i am goin to take it but my question is it is for a 98-02 vvti. mine is a non vvti. i know the sencor is different but is that all that is. because if the sencor is different i can just weld the hole or just make a plate to cover it. is just that sencor the only difference?

just alter it to take your sensor...plugging old hole and making new one...I don't think you can switch the sensors, I may be wrong though

you can't switch the sensors, they do different thing and run a different type of computation system for the measurement of air dilivery. In pre VVTi car the sensorthat was in the intake was a IAT(intake air temp) sensor, and the car used the signal from it and the MAP( manifaol aboslute pressure) sensor along with the Baro(barometric pressure )sensor to calculate the amount of air coming into the motor and thus adjusting the injector pulse width to regulate air/fuel mixture. Where as in VVTi cars toyota changed tha cars to mass air flow, and the did away with the map and the egr systems and put in the mass air flow sensor which tells the computer the intake air flow.

yeah but the non vvti is a sencor that just goes into a hole in the intake, so could i cover up the vvti sencor wich is the mass air flow one and make a hole for my kind of sencor?

your putting too much thought into this......just close the hole that is not for your car and open an new one that fits your car and there problem fixed.
