    Oil catch cans?

What is the oil catch can good for and how would I go by routing the hoses for it on my 7afe?

catches some/most of the evaporated oil escaping the manifold thru the PCV valve, so it doesn't clog the intake and valves of intake with oil gunk

    that's the theory anyway...

what he said. and best for turbo cars.

get them on ebay for a good price. one end of the hose attach to ur TB nipple and the other hose attach it to your PVC valve.

Thats good to hear cause I got mine in order now and that could possibly tie up into as my first mod for my turbo project later on.

Yeh, you'd be amazed at how much sludge you'll find in the intake manifold, even on a stock car. On older cars it might be a good idea to hot tank the manifold to clean out all the gunk after you install the catchcan. On the 4/7AFE you could attach a breather filter to the valve cover on the smaller vac hose next to the PCV valve, then plug up the side on the manifold.

Ya I saw all that sludge in my manifold also when I took it out and was thinking how much that slows down performance of the car. So is it better to put the breather on and plug the manifold side for the hose next to the pcv while having a catch can also? Also most of them don't come baffled so will I be alright to run it like that or adding steel wool make it perform better. After seeing how dirty my manifold was I was sure to do something about it and I'm getting my catch can at the end of the week.

You should have seen the crap that I poured out of my oil catch can the first few months I had it installed.

The way I see it, the smaller (non PCV Valve) hose also has vacumm going into the manifold. So If I'm thinking correctly, some of the oil/sludge would be pulled through that hose as well. When you plug it on the manifold side and add a breather on the valve cover side then PCV gases would be either vented or fresh air will be added to the gases when vacumm from the manfold is pulling the crankcase fumes through the PCV valve..

make sure you put some steel mesh down the can before hooking it up..
