Ocean City, MD Hot Rod Cruise In May 19-22(slight DUW)

so i didn't get MANY pics, but the ones i did get were pretty cool...hope you guys enjoy.

we got there Thursday night, and didn't do much since we were tired...so we started out Friday morning. it rained all day friday...pretty sucky, but i did get pics of one car:

yep, you guessed it, that's a

now Saturday rolled around, and MAN was it beautiful out...the sun was shining, and there was almost no wind - pretty surprising for an island. we hit up the car show at the inlet(the end of the island). there were oodles of Camaros, Chevelles, and old Malibus...so i kept my pics to the stuff that really struck me.

on the way TO the inlet, i snapped these two:

    HOLYCRAP IT'S A YENKO!!
it's a real one, too...i got a chance to talk to the owner later on, and he was the first owner of that beauty.

how's THIS for a blower cover?

i wish my camera could take sound clips...the superchargers some of these guys had were CRAZY loud. you could hear the blowers before you heard the cars!

i went a little corvette happy:

Mike and i are already making plans to do a classic vette much like the blue one in the third pic. that's his dream vette, and they're one of my faves as well.

i'm really not sure WHY they did this:

it's great seeing our local beer brewers represented so wonderfully as in a Natty Boh bus :D

old Datsun Z car - i am not sure of the number, can someone help me out here?

best 2 pics of the day...

Mike with the Geico gecko...he's got one just like him tattooed on his arm

and HOLYCRAP IT'S ME! in a 61 tbird. the owners were really cool...both husband and wife did the work on it.

it was an amazing trip for just a couple of days, and i'm GOING BACK NEXT YEAR!! if anyone wants to join me, i'll be making plans crazy early and posting up here as early as i did this year. i'd love for you import-lovin boys to get a taste of some real cars

forgot to mention...i ended up running into Mike(hookedup96rolla) there.

i swear he shows up to EVERYTHING in MD and VA. EVERYTHING.

    LOL

that was nearly Mike's reaction. he loves his chevys, and adores any oldschool chevys...but something THAT rare makes the jaw drop.

I believe that blue car is a 280-Z.

i thought it might be a 280...i was a little starryeyed by then. you know how i get when i am around too many old cars...

and so many of those cars run Cam4...the smell is so much better than that of regular pump gas...i love that stuff.

Here's a pic of a 280Z I took the week before. The only real difference between the two are the bumpers.

lol...down boy! seriously, though, the Yenko sounded good. i just wish he'd parked it at the car show so i could have gotten a better pic.

this guy kept getting in the way of my shot...he pissed me off, so i snapped a quick shot that just didn't turn out at all.

she was gorgeous, though. i drooled, and Mike had to lead me away.

Yeah, some of those cars are really nice- all up in the paint and chrome. Not digging the pink one w/ the rather *fat* person behind it. I'm not usually into old skool cars, but those are some really nice pics. Nice thread.

that "fat" person was the female half of the team who built the car. she might be "fat" but she's also in her 70's...

I knew that I'd get in trouble for that one. . . :p

She looks kinda young for being in her 70's.

*snerks* you didn't read any of my captions, did you? i said that was me in the car, silly.

that was the only car that i got chance to sit in - most other owners weren't with their cars.

    heh...tis ok.

as a total sidenote - my nose ITCHES! stupid sunburn...after friday's gloomy weather i never expected the sun to be as powerful as it was on Saturday. it didn't help that we were in a convertible...heh...oh well. Mike's worse off...his whole left arm is burned in the crelbow area, and the back of his neck's pretty toasty.

wow...sucks that they felt the need to do shit to your car.

i dunno...all the folks from the local forum seemed to have a bad time for some reason. i had the best vacation i've had in a LONG time...probably because i went with the intention of having a good time.

i'm still amused you were instigating burnouts ;)

yeah...the weather sucked hardcore on friday. Mike and i are both sick from walking the boardwalk in the rain(his slightly drunk idea...). it was still well worth it, though...the ocean was pretty cool looking with all the wind.

the hotel where they did the water dump...that wasn't at the Thunderbird, was it? apparently in previous years guests at that hotel would do that constantly. i kindof wish the cops weren't as strict as they were this year. i heard that for the anniversary they were pulling people over MORE than they were this year - NUTS! i'm just trying to figure out why they closed half the circuit around midnight on Saturday...it sortof killed the fun after awhile. you didn't happen to see an older white cavalier z24 convertible doing the occasional burnout, did you? if you did - that was us :)

i don't know if i'm going to do the fall event...but you bet your butt i'll be there next spring.
