    First off, welcome!

    1. Springs dont need to be prepped.
    2. You dont need to modify anything, it should be a direct replacement. You will have to cut your bumbstops though. I cut mine about half.

That rattling sound might be from an improper install. Bolts aren't tight enough, spring not sitting properly. Or it was damged.

    noOb suspension questions.

hello... new here from houston, tex. =]

i have a question about installing kyb-gr2's struts along with some TRD springs on an 01 corolla.

    1. should the struts be "prepped" in a certain way before installing? how?
    2. additionally, is there anything that needs to be modified or removed? specifically, the bump stop disk or simply the bump stop?

ive had the misfortune of having my suspension done by a Texaco shop that now seems far from knowledgeable- the rear seems to have no springs whatsoever and hops (and rattles) over bumps.

i know that the parts are correct (KYB-GR2s: 234057-234060 and TRD Springs: 00602-48130-COR)... so im trying to get any idea about how to correct this problem.

    thank you all...

    ok here's the dirt.

you will have to either disconnect your rear brake lines or just cut a small slot in the tab on the rear struts. i use a pair of diagonal cutters, much quicker and more precise than the usually recommended dremel.

if you haven't done a sprign install before, get a friend who has to help. and since you're installing TRD springs, i suggest renting a set of spring compressors, because getting those TRD springs on the struts is gonna be a bitch without them.
