    no more post count

So, who thinks we should kill the post count option on this board?

This came up in another thread (photoshop chinese boy thread), and I think its a good idea....may cut down on the post whore replies on the board.

CC dropped the post count, and it seems to be working fine.

    So, vote!

Agreed. Also, when i joined the 7thgencivic forum, I wanted to ask those who had amongst the most posts on the forum some questions since i could trust their answers more than someone with only 37. Although the number of posts does not necessarily show how much more you kno than the other guy, you would still feel more confident with that other persons answer, just like trusting those with high sales and feedback scores on ebay. But still, a number is just a number and the post count thing is in such small font n outta the way, that you wouldnt notice it unless u were lookin for it...so i say keep it..

what would you think of using the reputation system instead of post counts? that way you rank people on the quality of posts rather than how many they have.

guess it does lol eh with reputation it'll be better though since post count doesn't lead anywhere but reputation wise it helps other users identify honest seller and stuff like that

We have to make sure that we keep reminding people to use the reputation system though.

unfortunately i personally would be too lazy to give someone a reputation vote, unless it was a terrible post (or if they were completely innaccurate when giving advice), and a lot of people will probably do the same.... since there isn't money involved (like on ebay) there's almost no reason to praise the good posts unless someone was actually helped by the post enough to motivate them to give them a good rating.....

I would say add reputation and maybe you know how some people have tag's under their name you could add tags like trusted or scammer if people scam people etc...

what ever you all decide is fine as long as everything is kept cool and not so restricted to making it easy to work with and not so complicated and unwanting.

if we have to vote in order to build ones reputation, then yes, i agree.....the flaws i see in this would be people would neglect voting, people who have favorites will vote biasly in their favor all the time, and people would vote against those whom they dont feel quite fond of (just like slowrolla97 n ae102, even tho after they put down each other, they always end their post with a smiley face, lol.....)....n what about those people who just join for like a few posts then leave....if u look through the members list, there are a bunch of people listed there that only post a few times if any...you'll never know if they'll vote properly or just dont GAF n give people bad reps...i dunno, maybe im just being a bit pessimistic...

we can try it out atleast.

I have it set so it gives rep based on posts and how long you are a member of the forum. there is an anti-revote and max votes per day limit.. I'll just try playing with the settings over the next few months or so.. see how it goes :)

    TeeVee,
Nice job on the $10 word; superfluous! :) I feel the board just got [squeezes finger and thumb together so that a minimal amount of space is visible] thaaaaaaat much smarter. :)
    lol

On a side note, is there another theme in the works for the new upgrade? :)
I wish I could get hold of the pixeljunction.com guys. They used to have the tightest site...Of course they WERE graphics people. lol

This made me laugh at work, thanks, I needed a laugh today :)

For the reputation, we should have it so people can only give or receive rep points after they do about 50 posts or so (keep it counting in the background?)... I dont' know, I can see problems with both mehods...
