    nitrous, how hard?

Hey guys, it may seem like im continuesly buggin some of you out there and im sorry! but i had another question... :) Im about to run a 50 shot of nitrous. Dry or wet im not sure yet, because i hear one is better than the other all the time. I think a 50 shot of dry sounds like the most logical on my stock internals. ANd i assume its a little easier to install? I was just wondering exactly how hard it was to wire the electrical aspect of a nitrous kit without fuckin anything up. (which i DONT want to do!) i was thinking of the zex kit which sounds decent. My impression of the install is as follows:

    1. mount bottle in trunk
    2. run the tubes through the inside of the car into the engine bay
    3. make a hole in my rubber SRI tubing(before the TB, after the SRI)
    4. hook up the electricals.

Correct me if im wrong with any of this info, and back to my main quesition, how hard is it to install the electrical? thanks. sorry for the long post..

I think that you have it, when you drill the hole make sure that you have the intake off the car so none of the shavings get into the intake, and after the hole is made, clean it up with some sandpaper.

at a 50 shot, he should be fine with dry too. but wet is definitely safer.

sounds good guys. I think i have the hardware part down, but like i said, the only part im worried about is the electricals. i think i will go with the 50 shot of dry. but then again, all nitrous ktis come with detailed instructions right?

if you don't know about solenoids and you want to minimize the risk of engine damage, go with a ZEX wet kit. Wet is safer, because the n2o is mixed with your fuel, rather than going in by itself. Also, the ZEX kit works off the TPS (throttle position sensor) so you can ONLY spray when at wide-open-throttle, unlike the NOS and NX kits, which have solenoids that allow you to spray any time the system is armed and you hit the button.

Just to clarify, you spray when not at WOT (which is very possible during a race with the NOS or NX kit), and you can do serious damage, including destroying your intake manifold. The ZEX kit eliminates this problem because it controls when you're spraying... not you. This means you can't screw it up accidentally. It's the kit I'm gonna get if/when I spray my rolla.

so the solenoids control the fuel:n2o ratio? i know that the zex kit is one of the easiest to install, but they run at like $600 just for the parts. A NX kit is like $500 which is not bad. as long as a dry kit is hooked up correctly, wouldnt it be just as safe as a dry kit?

yes if done correctly, a dry kit is safe... but the wet kit is less wear/tear on your engine, and more power for the same amount of n2o. I personally would spend the extra money, because engine repairs are $$$ and I wouldn't wanna take the chance of forgetting to let off the button when i shift. I know i'd be into it, accidentally keep holding the button when i let off the gas to shift, and fuck something up. I'd rather let the ZEX FMU (fuel management unit) take care of it.
