One good mod, get rid of that POS 4 banger and drop a six in there, those 4 bangers are slow as s**t. My little bro has a 98 Camry with a 4 banger in it and my little as* Corolla can beat it with no prob, I know that there is a large weight difference thats why I gave him a head start.

LOL Nate C'mon man you've got it all wrong. The 98 Camry's had a totally different engine. 5SFE I think, which blows in that big of a car. The newer ones like his have the 2AZ-FE. 2.4L 160HP 157 ft.lbs of torque. I know I drive one alot. Yeah its a Solara, but same damn thing. Its definately faster than a Corolla / Civic.

The 2AZ could probably benefit from a P&P job and less restrictive exhaust though.

Yea but Mike there is more weight in a Camry than a Corolla. A stock 4 banger in a heavy car is still a disadvantage, if he did a P&P and a more free flow exhaust its a start, but I personally would swap in a V-6 or if I want to be adventurous a V-8 LOL.

yeah, only problem is what V6. Only really viable option is the 1MZ but we all know thats a sludge machine. I'd rather just turbo or SC the 2AZ. Hell theres several Scion TC's running around with 200+HP, and at least one with 425+HP. Of course that one kept ripping the stock axles apart.

as far as being fast. All I know is my Moms solara is faSter than my Corolla and Civic. Quite a bit faster actually.

That is true Mike, but as you said you gotta watch the axles. Correct if I am wrong but is the Solara lighter than the Camry I cannt remember.
