    New floor bar installed

I just got my floor bar in on friday and I want to share with you all how it came out. I got it from ebay (just look under "floor bar"). It costed me 46 dollars and it is extremely heavy duty. I've seen rollcages with the same thickness of 1 1/2 inches thick. Took me about 30 minutes to install and when I drove the car around, I noticed that it felt less flexy than it used to. well here you go guys.

no you dont have to, it's a floor bar. the seats are gone because it feels heavy with them on.

Did you have to remove the seats to install it?

I know hotchkis has underbody crossbars, but their not anywhere close to $46.
Do you know if they have bars for the 1998 models?

    the point....

I mean seriously other than having a new fun toy to add to the car, what purpose does it really serve? If your driving your car to where you need on of those and "less flex" the you must not love your car enough to just drive it right..

but yeah, IMO on a non-tracked car, i see it as a pretty useless mod myself.

here's answers and comments to all your questions

mingww - they'll all work cause they're universal.
hispanola - those you're talking about are called Sway bars.
tamago - i touge with my car every other week and i'm trial&error on parts to see what will benefit me.
italian - not required to drill, it mounts to the seatbelt. but i'll drill a hole on the far back to secure it in place.

it's fun. and my car handles pretty well on the mountains. Angeles Crest hwy's a fun place to drive.
i know you're into autocrossing, and i'd do that too but i've got so much stuff that's in my way to even have time on a saturday anymore.

Yeah man touge and auto-x is a lot of fun and to me a lot better than drags considering that handling takes more skill than just driving in a straight line or turning only left ( sorry NASCAR fans). Also even though you took the rear seats out how much would it affect legroom for passengers in the backseat??. I reaaly dont care cuz if they bitch about it they can call a taxi to get their ass home.

it looks pretty cool sxlostv1 just ignore the nay sayers. Something must of crawled up their butt. So correct them if they're wrong and tell them to chill the hell out and to enjoy their toyota echo. some folks just like to burst the bubble of others because they need to feel better about themselves.

No need to reply to this mr. tamago just show some respect here is all i say. It's posts like this that make some folks scared to post up new mods they've obtained. As he said he's just doing a trial and error to see if it improves his drive when he does decide to take some mountain roads. If you don't like the mod fine, but don't belittle him saying his verbage is incorrect and to make yourself feel superior because you can drive and you think he can't.

    hehe thanks drummer.

Tamago ... i believe "touge" can be used as both a noun and a verb, such as "autocross".

    touge: autocross:
i touge with my car. i autocross with my car.
did you go touge yesterday? did you go autocross yesterday?
