    new corrola owner

Hey guys I am the proud owner of a new corrola S, so far I love this car. At first it seemed a bit animic for me on the power level, but with good shift and the right RPM's it can acctually move at a good rate. Anyhow This is the only place I could find to ease me into the whole VVT-i Scene so show a newbie the ropes. I am a former Supra turbo owner and a Toyota lover, what I want to know is there a site or a old post telling me about the 1.8 VVT-i engine, particuarlly the one I have, My plans are to build it bit by bit to take to NOPI in Atlanta this Sept, or Aug (it's on the calender just a brain fart) I am going to get the ck1 full kit carbon fiber taillights and JDM headlights with the carbon fiber front grill and some other astetec beauties. I want some more go from my engine though, is it possible to get maybe 170-180 out of my 04 VVT-i with bolt on's, preferably without blowing it up (don't know how well this engine takes modifing) Don't flame me, I just want to know, and am hoping to represent Toyota's most modist model to the fullest.

Off the top of my head, these bolt-ons are available for our cars.
    - AEM, Injen, and TRD cold air and short ram intakes
    - Borla, Magnaflow, and TRD cat-back exhausts (I'm sure there's more)
    - TRD supercharger

That should bring you up to somewhere in the neighborhood of 150-160hp. I know there's more out there, just never really looked into it. I believe DC Sports is also coming out with headers for the 03/04 soon.

Sounds good, probly the most I'll ever want out of the engine is 230hp. which is going to be doable with a swap of some sort. probly GTS or the new corrola 6 speed. I don't know of the people who have done it, but seems like swaping these engines is simple as hell. um, do you guys know what these cars are good at. like Supra's are killer topend (the corrola dies on the interstate) seems like it handles pretty good, are they good for autocross?

Oh yeah do you know where I could get the TRD supercharger, and have any plans for a turbo kit come out?

Do you mean 150-160whp? Just curious, because the Vpower site says the supercharger alone will boot hp to 166, but I assume that's at the crank.

I should clarify. The supercharger and all those bolt-ons would take my car to around 160hp or so -- I drive an automatic.

TRD sells a carbon fiber engine cover. If you ask me, it's a bit overpriced. One little piece of carbon fiber costs $100-something, while an entire carbon fiber hood costs $350. Besides, the weight difference between the OEM engine cover and the carbon fiber one has to be minimal.

In fact, I'm holding my OEM engine cover right now -- I was painting it earlier -- and this thing weighs three pounds at most. Losing two pounds is not worth $100.

The supercharger and the engine cover are available through any Toyota dealership that sells TRD parts. Claremont Toyota in California has very good prices on TRD things. Their site is TRD Source. You can also try Vpower, he's got a ton of TRD and other aftermarket stuff for the Corolla at great prices. He posts on the Corolla sites too. His site is Vpower Autosport

    Hope that helps!

I believe another reason behind the carbon fiber cover is because the supercharger gets in the way of the normal one. You have to cut the normal cover (sorta looks ghetto).
