New angel eye project for 01-02 corolla...

Here's the deal. I'm thinking about starting a project later this summer. I'm going to develope angel eye kits for the 01-02 corollas. These will include all parts needed for the install.

I was thinking of making the angel eyes border the high AND low beams.
This is not going to be the cheapo miniblind rod and black electrical tape deal. This will be computer designed and laser cut. My goal is to make something that has good fitment, easy to install and looks very professional when complete. Color selection would be available. In the price range of $30 to $45 a pair.

    What do you think?

Can I get a consensus of people interested?

    Any comments or suggestions welcome.

    EDIT:

And if anyone has an extra headlight that they would like to donate for the prototype I will hook them up with free angel eyes. It doesn't have to be in perfect condition, just structurally sound on the inside. I would need to disassemble it. You will get it back when I'm done!

Hmm, I'm interested in putting angel eyes back in my headlights, but I just haven't had the time to make a new set. Lemme know how it goes.

Ok, let me know. It doesn't have to be in pairs. Just one side will do, then I will invert it to make the other side.

I will post pictures when I have mine done so everyone can see.
    You'll know.

Hey, you're supposed to give me some measurements for the logos!

    :p Ok...

If it's all worth the same, how about a thousand words? :p

So here it is... I've noticed that on the 01-02 lights there is about a 3/16" gap between the front bezel and the reflector dishes. This is a perfect spot for the angel eyes to slip into. If you look at the inside edge of the bezel, imagine the clear acrylic 1/8" thick bordering it around the inside edges. Protruding about 1/8" in towwards the center of the lamp on both the high and low beam lamps. Think of the bezel as a picture frame, the angel eye as the matte board and the picture as the reflector dish and lamp. There would be a frosted ridged effect around the whole angel eye insert to illuminate brightly when light hits it. I think this will look better than the hand made ones with dremel tools because I can get very accurate ridge spacing when I design in on the computer. I'm hoping to get this angel eye insert to match right up with the bezel and sit right in place where it is supposed to be.

Hopefully I can make it work out so that someone could just heat up their light, separate the lense and insert this angel eye right inside there easily.

You make it sound so easy, but i know they take time so good luck. Please let me know on what you come up with. Right now i have my friends headlights and they are stock and he won't let me get rid of them. he currently has mine since they already black and removed the center interior cover. so they look as if though it had hid's with the silverstars they are a bit brighter than stock.

oh, thats okay...thanks for the offer tho.....i have projectors that have angel eyes around them already....if i kept my old headlights like what fastrolla has on his car right now, then id be interested....i think with the 93-97, you'd have to use aftermarket headlights since the stock headlight lenses are like freakin opaque....

    01-02 Angel Eyes

Ok, I recieved the lights last night, opened them up and have the bezels out. I'll be working with scanning them into the computer and designing the angel eyes. I may have a prototype this week!

    I'll post pics...

as interestin as angel eyes sound, style-wise, they are as useless as the oem toyota mudflaps. i think if someone made some one peice headlights wit projectors then that would be hot

Well I've got a decent interest in them. Yeah, projectors would kick azz.

Ok, this is going alot faster than I thought...

This is a prototype right now. I've got a few structural and asthetic modifications to add. I want to change the ridges, make them a little thinner and increase the intervals. Also I am going to be using TWO LEDs. As you can see in the illuminated picture the light doesn't quite make it all the way around. Adding another LED will make a consistent illumination.

The LEDs will be imbedded into the glass, aligning the LED reflector cup with the center of the glass. Also, reflective tape will be added in certain areas to help channel and seal the radiation.

Here's a pic without any light going through.

This is with an LED keychain flashlight shining through it.

    Question to all;

Should the angel eye border on the top of the bezel or should the left and right sides end when they reach the top?

    Thanks

i think it should end instead of throwing off the "eye" effect.IMOBTW i dislike you because you have an S witha sunroof and manual tranny which is what i wanted, but its cool, nice car keep it that way not like me.

I think it should end at the top.
