Need someone with Amp and Sub experience

    Hello Gang,

I just installed a my old sub system in my car and had to buy a new amp becuase my old one was fried. Anyways, when I hooked it up, it was not as loud as my old system which I was running bridge. My old amp was a 100 x 2, my new amp is here http://www.kenwoodusa.com/product/p...?productId=2482

What I need to know, is if the following sub layout is the best setup for this system? Am I getting the most out of the system.

    Here is the layout.

If this layout is not ideal, what should I do to get the best results. Please review the amp url. Thanks again.

    Sorry about the art skills....

Okay first things first, is the black wire you have on your diagram the positive?
Check your wires make sure you they are in sync or they will cancel each other and not hit as hard.
How much rms does each of your subs hold?
To get maxmum power, your subs should be wired with a combined total of 4 ohms cuz you are bridging it to the am which will make it two ohms. According to the specs of your amp, it will give you 400W rms @ 2 ohms. 200@4 ohms

Yes, they are set up correctly as far as positive and negative.

My subs are Alpine S-10 and they are 300 watts RMS.

What I am not sure is if the way I have them layed out in the box or connected to the amp is the best way.

ok, forget the 1000 watt claim, this is a 400 watt rms amp at 2 ohms..

what kind of subs do you have? and what is the voice coil configuration?

what you have there is a parallel bridge setup, which is good.. if you have 2 4ohm subs, the way you have it wired is the proper way..,

what was your old amp? how much power did that put out? this setup will only give you a max of 400 usable watts at 2 ohms bridged, if your old amp put out more power at 2 ohms bridged, that would explain why this is not as loud..

also, you have to take input sensitivity into account, you may need to properly adjust your gain knob to get the output you desire- but keep in mind that the gain knob is NOT a volume knob..its an input voltage level matching knob.. so dont go cranking it up without knowing what you're doing
