    Need some insurance advices please.

I found out today my car is totalled as of this morning. I talked to the body shop (Daytona Toyota) and they estimated the car worth about $11,825 (KBB I assume?) but the lady up front told me it's up to the insurance company to value my car.

I estimated insurance would pay NMAC (Nissan Motor Acceptance Corporation) anywhere between $9,000-$11,000. Since NMAC is my loaner I won't be seeing the check, instead straight goes to NMAC. I still owe $15,000 on my car.

One of my co-worker today told me when insurance company calls I can tell them two things... 1) Fix my car or 2) Pay off all my loan. His reason was (I have full coverage) if USAA (insurance) pays NMAC $11,000 I would still have to pay the $4,000 out of my pocket as monthly payments, and I have no car but still making payment? or have USAA pay to fix the car (which would cost them more) and I still have a car to drive around. Is this reasonable? possible being done?

It seems now USAA and NMAC is going to work it out between themselves. I don't see it's rational if USAA can't pay off my loan and I'm still going to make payments with nothing in hands. Any kind insurance advices would be appreciated. Thanks for your help.

can you fix a totalled car? does usaa know that you owe $15000 on your car still? how long ago did you get the car?
sometimes you luck out and they will pay off the whole thing.
usaa is pretty generous if you have been with them for a while. they gave me a check for a cd player when my car was broken into, they didn't even ask for reciepts or a police report.
that would suck if you had to make a payment on a car you didn't have. hope things work out for you, best of luck

Depends if you have GAP coverage. Sometimes your insurance will offer this automatically with their policy, sometimes it is separate. If not - you could be stuck with the remainder of your loan.

    Good Luck.
