    need new clutch assembly

any sugestions for new clutch.my wife has a xrs with 21000 miles and now the clutch slips real bad. tried bleeding the slave unit with no results. little or no air in line.looking for nothing sportier than a stage 1 setup. iv'e seen various setups like act, centerforce, fidanza, exedy, clutch master, spec stage 1, and remanufactured exedy, aisco, oem setups. i ordered a longer rod for the clutch slave unit.by the way my wife has driven a stick all her life with ease and shift points at around 4000 rpm. her celica would get like 70000 miles between clutch jobs.

I know the Matrix XRS has a reputation for eating up clutches - even with typical driving, no 8000RPM clutch drops or anything like that. Corolla XRS is a little lighter and easier on the clutch - but could also suffer from a similar fate. The 2ZZGE is a great engine, just that I find myself launching my car at higher RPMs than I'm usually used to - just to get it moving - ~50K so far, no problems. Pretty much any upgraded clutch should be stronger than the OEM one - just a matter of personal tastes. If she is getting 70K on a Celica - might be a touch too strong on the clutch - most of the Toyotas I have will run more than 100K between clutches - easily, with the XRS the only iffy one.

in addition to a stage 1 clutch you might consider a heavier flywheel. yes the car will rev slower, but you would be able to engage the clutch at lower rpm.
