Need HELP with taking out front speakers!!!!

How do you get the front speakers out? There is no bolts or anything where I can grip it to only a flat stud with a hole in it. I tried my alum(spelling) wrench and non of them seem to turn the bolt. Can someone please tell me how to take it out?

Im guessing you just pry it out with a flat head screw driver, but im not sure.

theres a diy for it on this site. i did it and it was much easier then the back speakers. u just pop a few things off and remove i think it was 3 screws and the whole door panel pops off.

They're not bolts, they're rivets. You have to remove the heads with a drill and punch them through.

I know how to take out the door panel but wasnt sure how to take out the speakers itself. I searched for the DIY but there is non or no more. I hear people talk about it but there was no link to it.

    Oxymoron,
If I remove them, the rivert will be damage right? And I would have to use different screws on it rite? I saw a pic of your front door speakers and saw that you bought some speaker spacer. How much did you get them for? I saw the link to them but there was no price.

    Shortys408,
When you said you cut out the speaker, do you mean cut out the acual paper cone?

Oh by the way, which color is positive and which color is negative?

The rivets will be destroyed. I made my own adapter out of MDF - that was before they were available for sale, but you can buy them now. I used nylon bolts and nuts to mount the adapters - no chance of rust.

Driver door: positive is pink. negative is purple
Passenger door: positive is green, negative is blue.

What? After I cut the cone out I have to cute something else too? I thought I just need to cut it out and pop it out, and mount the new speakers onto the wooden part.

How hard is it to cut out the rivets? Will a razor blade work?

did you check the DIY (like was already suggested?:(

if your still confused, get a shop to do the install. this may not be your best area :)

and no, a razor blade will not cut through a rivet. leave them alone anyway, for most speakers you can mount to the grey bracket.

It's best to remove the existing speaker entirely. The tolerance between it and the door trim is pretty tight as is - mount an after market driver in there and the door trim will be pressed tightly against the edges of the driver. It's probably why so many people seem to have rattles from the door panels.

true, but that is the more compex option, he'll likley need to fab a new mount. IMO, a simpler solution is needed here. :)

You're right - a simpler solution is probably the way to go.
