    Need Help on Dash Cluster!!

I just hooked up my new dash cluster (the one that has white face gauges) that i bought from a salvage corolla S. When i installed it, i saw that the new dash cluster still has the mileage of the corolla S and not my mileage. My car has ~12k miles and the cluster that i bought has ~23k miles. When i switch to my old cluster, it showed the real mileage of my car so i knew that the clusters has a memory on how many mileage it has. Anyone know how i can change the mileage to match my car? I know its illegal to tamper w/that but i dont want to hook up the cluster that i bought if it would double my mileage. I guess i'll just wait until my car hits 23k miles.

disassemble the clusters and you'll see the odometer unit screwed in. Just remove it and exchange them...but if you wanted to sell me the other one, i'd buy it :)

Or just drive your car till it has 24K miles on it then swap the white ones in.

    OR

Wait till you have 70 k miles on it THEn put the whote ones in!!! he he, then you could sell it for really cheap!!!

Can your friend get more parts from that corolla in the salvage yard? I just realized what better way to get decent priced factory fog lights than off of an actual corolla. :) If you can get the fogs (maybe wire harness too?) I would pay you for your efforts. Let me know what you think. Also interested in the S body kit but if the car is totalled or something then that probably won't work.

Actually I was an admin so I could put up the DIY's I was doing. I am not sure why they keep my around anymore.

But thank you for the compliment.

How easy was it to swap out? I would like to have some white faced gauges in my CE. I like the LE ones with the dark green numbers and the clear green strip on the needle. Do they light up green at night too? What color do the S gauges light up?

Well mines were the red and white ones like the corolla S. I have a Ce and it was pretty easy to swap. The only thing that you have to know is if you get another cluster you should check the mileage and make sure its not way off compared to yours. I got a 23k mileage cluster while my car has onl,y 12K so i'll just wait till my car hits 20K till i permanently swap it. And the lights are white!

Actually, BAD THINKING since it will show as an Odometer Rollback FRAUD on your CarFax report, associated with your car's VIN number. Been there, Done that :(

Just keep the recipt to show you bought the new cluster and explain that you didnt want to tamper with the actual reading.

Also how does carfax know how many click I actually drove??

If you bring in your car for a Smog Check around 60-70K, they will RECORD the mileage.

Now you replace the stock cluster with the newer LOWER mileage cluster.

When it's time for you to sell your car, You are now required for another SMOG CHECK before DMV can process the registration for the new owner. Your odometer now reads 30K.

Your buyer will now check Carfax....When Carfax sees a discrepancy somewhere in between the mileage, It will permanently mark your car with fraudulent odometer reading.

I don't know if Smog Checks are enforced in Canada, but it's pretty strict here in CA.
