    Need a little help here...

I know this is probably in the wrong section, but I need some help and I figured this section gets the most hits...

...anyways, I went to start my car this morning (I have a 2004 Corolla for those who don't know) and I noticed that the alarm sound was as if it were dying. So I went to start my car and all I got was the clicking sound, no start. So I checked my voltmeter and it shows 8.3. Strange considering I was driving earlier today and the car started fine. SO I figured I might have left something on in the car. I pull out the jumpstarter and jump my car. Let it run for awhile and now the voltemeter read 14.1. So I pull the jumpstarter off and check the voltmeter again and it shows 13.8 with the car running fine. I turn the car off, turn it back on, try to start it, and I get the clicking sound and the volts jump back down to 8. WTF is going on.....

Okay...well, its an electric short. Somewhere in the powerwire running to my amp. I traced it all the way to the battery terminal. Anything I should look for (i.e. corrosion, etc.)

hmmm...you said amp? Make sure that your remote turn on/off is working correctly. Make sure that when you turn the car off, the amp goes off too. Touch the battery to see if it is hot after it was been sitting for a while

It sounds like you may be onto the cause ( a drain on the battery) that you will need to trace down (always check recent work done or added accesories first)Trunk light ??

And I think the reason it would not restart is you may not have given it time to recover / charge before trying to start again.

Make sure any aftermarket electrical items are on a switched power source. There are however certain items that need constant power ie radio memory for keeping presets, alarms, keyless entry, etc... All of those will usually have one wire for constant 12v and one for a switched 12v source.

dirty terminals, dead battery, or bad grounds start from basic which means start from battery if its 2004 warranty should cover it...

I had that happen on my truck a while back and the battery terminal had gotten a little loose. Well shortly there after my starter started to go and then the battery died (6 month period) so mine were a few different factors but it started with the loose battery terminal.

Ya sounds like your battery is not recharging correctly.....
