    Nasty gind sound!!

When i begin to drive my car once it has been sitting long enough to cool off, after 5 or so stops at a signal or stop sign the brakes will make a horrible grinding sound when i use them. when not using the brakes i hear a slight squeaking sound, and when i use the brakes i have a nasty grind sound till i stop. I have replaced the axle, brakes, and had the rotors turned and I still have the same wierd problem. anyone have the same problem? I am begining to think that this sound is coming from the transaxle.

your calipers could be warped, they should be fairly smooth and even, if you see deep groves and irregularities on them then you better take them to a mech cause either your break pads are shit or the calipers need replacing

Are you talking about the rotors? Cause I have turned the rotors. I dont quite understand what you are talking about with the calipers. Did you mean to say rotor?

I dont think its the caliper because what the caliper do is push the brake pad in.did you put the metal thing that goes on the barke pad?if so that might cause the noise.

yeah im pretty sure I put the metal clip on. One thing I noticed is the caliper pistons' rubber boot is torn, would that some how cause a noise like that? Is there any way that the strut would somehow make a noise like that? Remember the noise begins when I have made a few stops or so after not driving the car a while. seems like once something heats up when i have used the brakes a few times, it starts the grinding sound, I'm stumped.

I dont think that torn rubber on the caliper is the problem. Here's what i know that might and can cause the grind noise is rotors are not shaved when installing a new brake pad, thats a must or brakes is worn out by all means brake metal to rotor metal cause grinding.I guess its a sign...its time to trade your car in for a corolla, lol.

i had my stock ones resurfaced as well and i guess i'm just hard on my brakes or i have other issues but i keep warping my rotors.... thats wat the girinding noise is

Rotor can warp if the wheel bolts where overtorque when putting back the lug nuts. That happened with a car I worked on and found out I had to replace the wheel bolts.

A possiblity of noise is, did you but grease around the metal parts of the brake pads. If not, most likely, or certain, you will get noise when braking.

i figured out my problem. the rubber mount on the top of the strut was basically ripped and when i would brake it would cause the whole strut to shift and would cause, i believe, the axle to bind. so i replaced the strut and axle and spindle assembly and no more problems thank god. it would make a horribly embarrasing sound when I would brake and come to a stop.
