    Nascar

Can someone tell me what's so good about NASCAR? I mean I think it's kind of cool but its not my favorite. ikonzone,if you read this, I saw you put that it is underrated and it has the largest following than all other motorsports, can you please explain?

Personally I love Rallying, like the wrc class. What other motorsport do cars bang animals(I don't like hurting animals, but I mean that's pretty wicked), spectators stand like 5 inches form the cars or drive cars literally falling apart? I also been thinking F1 is pretty awesome too, both BIG dollar spending. And also all of Europe is in to this shit so that's a pretty big following in my head.

I can't stand watching racing of any kind on TV. Nascar drives me nuts unless it's a road course. F1 drives me nuts due to the fact there isn't really any passing going on.

Same, or maybe the last 2-3 laps of whatever race... Does drifting count? I would probably watch drift events on tv and pinks.

i grew up watching nascar, so my view is probably skewed. nascar is the series where most drivers want to go and prove that they are the great driver people claim, but can't. it gets proven every year when an open wheel driver tries to make the switch. it's a lot harder than what it looks like and i believe that it's the same way for all types of racing. although it's the number one watched racing series some people put it down because they go in "circle". people are not as vocal about irl when they do the samething. if it wasn't hard to drive than everyone would do it. it's taken montoya years to get into the top 12 in points and he's a great driver from open wheel. hornish is doing ok, but it will take a couple more years for him to be more competitive. maybe people look at tony stewart and see his success and think they can duplicate it. i also like other racing, just yesterday i was watching the limerock race. nascar is better to watch live, but that's the same for all racing. there's also someone here that always says scca drivers have far more skill than nascar drivers which is just laughable.

One thing about nascar drivers: For one to avoid crashes/recover from almost crashing @ those speeds = skill. Also, those people who do risky maneuvers that actually pull it off = win.

But I think I watched Top Gear once and someone tried to drive an F1 car and apparently was so difficult... F1 speeds + difficulty of driving that car = skills

What seems to be difficult about the F1 cars is the electronics. You have a number and gauge telling you everything that’s happening with a car. Nascar is primitive in that it still uses carb’d engines, but they have stated it helps keep from cheating since a computer is not dialed into the car.

I'm not a huge fan of nascar, I watch it every now and again cause Juan Pablo Montoya is from my country and he races there now instead of F1. However I'm glad they're starting to add more circuits in their track rosters... I would love to drive at full speed around an oval one one of those Camry's for a few laps, that'd be dope.... It all depends on what type of racing you like, rally racing is awesome cause anything can happen due that the tracks change yearly due to weather and such. Nascar is just a way of life for a lot of ppl just like football or baseball or soccer and that's respectable even if it seems pointless.

just something that came to mind while watching the last road race. what is the reason the car of tomorrow carries the front tire through corners? is the weight or just the setup to get it drive how they want? i figured it would be faster to have all the wheels on the ground, but i don't know much about the adjusting dynamics of the COT.
