    shit - you should see my car (boosted of course) when its 40 or less outside... intercooler turns that air into ice goiin into my charge pipe... most badass...

    uh, the condition you are referring to is open loop. You shouldnt be moving sensors anywhere if you dont know exactly what you are doing.

    IIRC, the way to keep the engine running open loop is to change your thermostat to a higher temperature thermostat. This will cause you to run RICH - like at warmup. You will notice drop in your gas mileage though, and given the current price of gas, not worth it IMO.

    I should also add that this is an old 50s - 60s Carb and NON OBD trick, so I'm not sure how it works with newer cars

    ok, i'm sure everyone knows this, but my car is so much more responsive when it is colder outside. i'm sure it's because of the cold air. when it's hot outside, my car just sucks, it's like it takes alot longer to advance to the next gear. oh yeah, i drive a 97 rolla 1.8l auto

    anyways, i was thinking. correct me if i'm wrong, but when i start off and my car is cold and it's cold outside, the intake temp sensor senses a colder amount of air and adjusts the timing to advance a little. also, since my engine is cold, the oxygen sensor hasn't heated up yet, so the engine runs rich by default.

    how can i hook it up so my engine runs rich, like using a switch to do it? would i have to simulate the signal from the oxygen sensor? i've seen those "chips" on ebay, that are nothing more than a resistor, but how could that possibly work for my than 5 mins when you oxygen sensor heats up and adjusts the fuel mix for "colder" air.

    let me know your ideas on this.

    the key is to have a cold air intake w/ the sensor mounted inside so that it forces the computer into add more fuel to the mixture to compensate for that ice cold air- and yes- im loving the weather now- w/ nice crisp cool air rushing in, the car jets forward, my exhaust seems to be much louder and rumbles, the high end power is extradinary..for a 1.6L (which is not much compared to other rolla owners)

    good thinkin'...i'll pull out my air temp sensor from my cold air intake tomorrow. they drilled the hole for the sensor in the stupiest place, so that it constantly rubs against the throttle cable. i can feel the cable shaking my gas pedal because of this sometimes. yeah, good plan
