More exhaust questions...

OK, I'm going to ask like 5-million questions because I'm just confused by all the options for exhaust upgrades. I've decided not to get the header, but instead to go with a custom cat-back exhaust....

1) TRUE cat-back includes everything from the 2nd cat to the tailpipe (piping, resonator and muffler). When I'm going w/ a cat-back exhaust, should I have the resonator removed or leave it?? Is the resonator that restrictive? What's inside a resonator anyhow?

2) When choosing the muffler, I've pretty much decided on an oval design and NOT a round body. I like the look better. If I'm going custom, then I can choose whatever I want (right?) and I need help choosing between Borla and Magnaflow and specifically what model. I'm going w/ 2.25" piping - suggestions?

3) I HAVE to have an offset inlet - correct? Does it matter whether the outlet is offset or center (stock is offset/offset)??

4) Should I go with a universal model or XL muffler? Are XL mufflers better?

5) Is the muffler on the Borla axle-back exhaust one of their universal mufflers?? Couldn't I just buy the muffler that's used in the axle-back kit and have the same thing for a couple hundred dollars less?

6) Are ALL universal muffler by Borla and Magnaflow straight-thru designs?
