you will end up spending like 1000 dollars on an intake, header, and exhaust to get at most 5whp....why not spend a couple of extra bucks and go for it all the trd supercharger....best bang for the buck in my opinion...if i could do it all over again thats what i would have done

MWR has some cams for the 1zz, but MO.com owners who have tested them out are having issues resulting in decreased hp. Don't quite know the details, but do the search.

i personally think the trd supercharger is a fucking ripoff. $3000 for 30hp? I/H/E and a 55 shot of n2o are gonna net more hp for half the fuckin money. Or, you can go ahead and spend the $3000 that the s/c will run you and turbocharge it instead and get better results to begin with, and more potential for power later on if you feel like beefing up the internals and fuel system and then turnin up the boost.

You can't just add WHP numbers like that..it's not how it works.

I've seen TRD S/Cers for $1700..maybe that was a one-time deal or something..?

5-7 whp from an intake!? My intake must have given me invisible horsepower, then..because it feels no different now, except it'll lag for a second if I punch it.

how could you not see what his question is? its what everyone else asks in the engine and transmission section. his question is pretty strait forward i dont see why you are trying to flame him for that...im going to flame him because he should do a seach on forum first before he starts a new thread...i swear there is a million threads in this section all asking the same thing..."what should i do to my corolla to make it fast" and almost always it gets the same damn response....TRD SUPERCHARGER, OR NITROUS

So you can't add whp that way, it all depends in a lot of variables, however, it is a simplified way of looking at gains. I'm just entering my opinions and my results.

I saw those S/C for that price but wasn't sure if that was just the S/C without the TRD ECU. Who knows. Anyways check the dynos from my car domain site. They all came of the same dyno the dame day. I've added all those components and pushed my WHP to 175. At a 16-30% drive train loss I believe the 5-7 WHP on my '03 was real and it is was different in the mid-high rpm range. Loss a bit of torque at the low end. But for real 5-7 WHP is barely noticeable.

But like I said the S/C is necessity to get all the other components to be worthwhile. I KNOW you cannot just add I.H.E and get and extra 25-30 WHP, you need some sort of FI.

As far as turbo or SC - it was all a matter of being C.A.R.B. legal.

actually thats not quite true about the trd sc/er adding only 30hp...you can make it add alot more by buying some components that work with it. if you get the TRD 9psi pully for it it will increase the hp durastically, sorry i cant really pull out any numbers but i know it adds a few ponys....also if you do E-managment, (i.e Unichip) that again will increase the sc/er hp potential. along with an upgraded fuel pump, and larger injectors, you might be able to expect to see numbers in the 200hp range.

Well the gains from the 2.3, 2.2, and 2.0 inch versus the 2.4 inch stock S/C pulley have not been determined yet what they actually yield if anything. We do know that the smaller pulley is adding quite a bit more heat build up and that WI is a must before going to the smaller stock pulleys. We have been seeing the boost climb about 2-3 psi going from the stock 2.4" to 2.3" pulley.

some sort of engine management is a must at this point though. Either an AIC which is one of the cheaper ways to go, which controls the 5th injector and the WI, a e-manage, or for the deep pockets out there the Unichip. The gains going to the Unichip IMO are not worth it, and the AIC has yielded nearly identical max WHP and max WTQ.

200 WHP has not been achieved yet with the current S/C 'ers, but 200 BHP has definitely been acheived. For most of us that have already gone beyond the S/C, 200 WHP seems to be the pinnacle.

S/C is just more reliable controlled power through the RPM band. Of course NOS may achieve more power at WOT, but think of the maintenance and long term cost. I've always seen NOS as the cheap way out and that the true tuners are after something more wholesome.

S/C really doesn't have to be maintain for 100,000 miles according to the maintenance guides, and even at that all you are suppose to need to do is change the oil. Also the S/C is just great for daily driving anywhere in the RPM range. Instant power as fast as you can push the gas. C.A.R.B. legal, low maintenance, specially built for our cars. Granted, not cheap, but it is reliable. Just like our Corollas versus the other import models in the same class. And if tuned right fun to drive.
