its not hard. two large head bolts, i forget what size they are. the one on the bottom is the drain plug, the one on the side facing the radiator is the fill plug. use whatever you want, depending on miles you should use 75w-90 if you have less than 60k, and 80w or 85w-90 if more.

GM/Penzzoil Synchromesh is the best. Although they're about $5 each bottle, it made shifting smoother.

When I had my clutch changed, I had cheap (really cheap) gear oil to put in..it's definitely rougher shifting. I need to go buy better stuff..

give ya a hint though.... buy some 5/32" hose (about 3 feet)... makes the job MUCH easier..... it isn't difficult, but i found it annoying to try and fill the mr2 w/o it...... (i did it in the ae92 without a hose.... but still)... put the hose into the fill bolt and (obviously) on the end of the oil container

tell me about it, I used motor oil when I changed my clutch cause it was the only thing I could find. I still haven't changed it, and the gear oil is sitting in my trunk.

Can I use Royal Purple Synchromax in my 2001 corolla? It doesn't say the weight or anything on the bottle just that its hardcore and will work in anything? Anyone have any testimonial?

I need to change mine soon -- can you find Royal Purple at a 'normal' autoparts store (Advance/Discount, NAPA, Autozone, etc)?
