    short answer: magnet size matters.

the magnet, and voice coil make up the motor structure of the driver. they, with power from you amp move the cone.

having said that, its a spec i wouldnt worry too much about. the X figures (Xmax, Xmag, Xsus) are much more important than magnet size when choosing a sub driver as it tells you quite a but about how much air the driver can displace.

having said that, most long Xmax drivers also have a large motor structure, hence a large magnet. ....but a large magnet does not necessarly make a good driver. :)

specs look reasonably well ballenced, id want to know what price point this was available at though, as that would go a long way to determine its value. if anything the 30hz FS seems a little high, but should be fine in a car where you can expect some serious cabin gain.

16mm Xmax, and 500w thermal power handeling wont shake the world, but will give a SOLID bottom end to any sane system.

i think that the driver you posted a link to may sound OK for 80 bucks, but with all that in front of it, why skimp on the driver. you have some reasonably big money in electronics, so it makes sence to back them up with a proper driver(s)

get one or two of these and and keep the ballence in your system:

my choice if i had your rig

as for the EQ, read my post here:
