    Maaco Paint...????

Ok I know I am going to be viewed as a major cheap ass for posting this but, I just got married and am short on cash and want to get the rolla painted. Anyone ever used maaco? I know the paint doesn't hold up as well but other than a short life span is there any problem with it? There is a maaco near my house that a number of my friends have gotten cars painted at and swear by them. Granted it looks great outta the spray booth but what about after 2-3 years? Is it worth saving $2k now and getting better paint in a few years?

Do you need to get it painted because the existing paint is oxidized badly and you fear it'll start rusting out? If so, you're better off at least Kryloning the thing instead of just leaving it unpainted until you get the money up for the paint job you really really want. And will the $149 or whatever they charge now really impact the saving up of $2K to get that great paint job? Maaco has been around for many years, it's not like they're a fly-by-night operation. The main thing is the paint is what protects the metal underneath-- if the car needs a paintjob now it'll need serious bodywork in 2 years. "An ounce of prevention" and all that.... Just keep the new paint waxed.

Its not so bad that it is rusting out, just got some unsightly stone chips in the hood..... And would like my trd kit repainted. It needs a refresher paint

It depends on your local maaco, they're not all the same.

like I said my local one has got 3 great reviews from my close friends, i don't know how there paint has held up because is hasn't been a long time. One of my friends wasn't happy because there were some bubbles in one section so maaco repainted the whole car for him, and it looked great. just the duribility factor that worries me

i didnt know different paint jobs had varying durabilities. interesting.

    just a general question,

if my car has all these dings and crap all over would a paint shop like maaco take care of that too? or would i need to take it to a place specifically? like a body shop or something?

to my knowledge they can do some minor body work that'll take care of dings and other crap. I was kinda wondering myself about getting the rolla repainted. I do know that when i get a new car i'm gonna put that clear lamminate shit over it so that even when I decide to take it off after a few years, i'll still have a great looking car.

I had a neighbor that had a crappy 78 diplomat.. he spent a few weeks sanding down all the rust himself, primed it.. Looked GREAT for like a few months.. then the rust started showing through. not sure if it was his crappy sanding job, or they don't do a very good job sealing it.
