Look What I did Today. TONS of Updates. PICS! (56K Beware)

Well I went out and got some black paint that came close to the same color as my black car and painted my grill today. I popped off the toyota emblem so it is still shiny. I will be getting a baby blue color paint later today. After I get that I will paint a small peice of metal that is going to mount just behind the toyota part of the grill. It should create a neat effect. The calipers, drums and "S" sign on the back of the car will also be baby blue as is the Engine cover and mabey a few other peices under the hood.

On the "S" emblem I am going to try and only piant the red part in the middle to be baby blue and leave the chrome on the outside part. We will see how that goes a little later.

For now though let thse pictures show you how it turned out.

I am trying to convince myself which style of side marke lights I want to get for the side of the car. I deff want a chromy color, but think I like this style the best

Or else these small square ones. I would get the clear of these

Its hard to tell from the pics of my grill, but I waxed the car yesterday too. It got rid of a lot of the small scratches, and also filled in the scrape marks on the inside part of the door handles.

I was too cheap to get the altis grill. Thats why I went the paint route instead.

I got that baby blue paint. I'll post pics up in a minute of what it looks like.

I'll get the power mod up later this week sometime. With power mods I like to be sure its going to work in different situations to be sure before I promote it. I have used this thing on many other cars before, and have always had good results. Gas milage got better too.

nope not a chip, not a resistor, not an ecu upgrade, not a turbo, not a VVT-i controller.

    Keep guessing.

I went to put a clear coat on top and found that the little bit I had left from a previouse project had the nozzle proke off. I am going to use some cut polish on it in about a month after it bakes on. That way it will buff up almost as shiny as the rest of the car.

I'll give all you guys a hint. Its a tuner trick that I did to my car. Not a full out huge power increaser mod. and the parts were less than $5.

I was going to do it before but it was winter. And it doesnt work so good in winter. Plus I had 3 free oil changes at my dealership. I just iused my last one. I didnt want to do anything to the car that a tech there may see and make note of. Now the only reason I have to go to the delaer is if I need warranty work done. At wich point I would be reversing some of my mods.

Stinky, I've been planning on painting my grill like that for a while, but I've been too lazy to get some paint made up :p

    Looks nice man :D

Oh, I did paint my drums and calipers today, but my car was so dirty from the constant thunderstorms we've been gettting I didn't take pics because my rims are nasty :(

I'll take pics later, and nice job on all your stuff. :D

    thanks.

My rinms where filthy too. thats why there is no front rim pic. I just wiped off a small section on one of the back rims to take the pic. If you look close you can see the dirt.

not the resistor crap. But I'll tell you I do have a similar thing on my car that works. But Since In only get arguments from most ppl on boards about them I wont even mention that one. I think of it this way. If you guys all think it doesnt work, then its just one more thing I got to pull on you!

    But its not that.

I'll try and do it up today and post it. Its not working as great as I hoped it would, but seems to be an improvment none the less.

I have a lot to do today though so it may not be till tomorrow.

bro did you sand/prime/sand the chrome strips on the grille or not, cuz the paint will chip off with the heat and untill all of it does, it will look GAY. not trying to criticize your work but just a heads up. i wanna do my altis emblems if and when they come in (my buddy ran into probs finding those) and everybody tells me to sand/prime/sand them before painting them black. also, good job on the emblems, did u use masking tape to cover up the sections you didn't wanna paint, if you didnt already know, masking tape is the best when it comes to paint.

I didnt sand anything on the front grill. It was chipping already from rocks and stuff so I exopect I will have to maintain it every spring, but thats ok.

The back emblem I used a small brush and brushed it in, then used my fingernail to scrape off the paint from the edges. Then wiped with a paper towel to clean off the extra.

The front emblem I pulled right off when I pianted, then put it on when it was dry. I was thinking of pianting the front emblem black so it would show up. But liked it better chrome
