i've never kept a car long enough to need to replace them. i've had 7 new cars since 2004 although when i would buy used i had replaced the seat belts when they were frayed.

Do his looked frayed to you?
From my understanding, the expiration date on a racing seat belt refers to its competition use.The harness would only be allowed to be used up until that expiration date, you would then have to send the harness back for recertification.
Also, seven cars in 5 years...impressive.

i tried looking up the info on oem seat belts having an expiration date. do you have a link to that information? i would be interested on reading up on that. as for being frayed, who knows. the quality of the pics is not exactly clear. the impressive part about my car is buying is that i am not upside down on any car i currently have.

    just being logical.

Racing harnesses have expiration dates for track use just like ikon was implying. I doubt he's taking to a track, so he'll be fine.

not 3 point/ 2 inch harnesses, they are neither SFI or FIA homologated and not legal for competition use.. they're for hobbiest who do occational autoX, HPDE or >10 second 1320's. I think that's a Scrotch made sparco harness because I think I spot a ASM device, in that case its a FMVSS certified harness legal for highway use in some cars.
