Light buzz/rattle between 4k and 5k..what could it be?

Assuming I don't have something loose in my engine bay (have to look..heh), what could a light metallic rattle (almost like shaking a few coins around) be? I can hear it between 4k and 5k..not before, and not really after. If I rev from outside the car, I don't hear it..only inside. It sounds like it's coming from up front, though..

    Weird.

It started just around the time I started running 93 octane (up from 87)..Citgo and Shell gas.

lol man..check my sig..I'm going to break 150,000 miles this week.

Driving belt as in serpentine belt? I replaced it last year for ~20 bucks..didn't have to mess with the tensioner, though.

Oh -- the weird clicking sound I had (I was told probably axles) went away after I had my inner tie rod ends replaced.. :D

oh snap..didn't read the sig..lol. yea..i got told that the drive belt and something else that dealt with the belt had to be replaced. that wasn't expensive..it was the labor that got me.

I had a friend of mine listen to it..he said it sounds like something is loose & not to worry too much..I'll have to poke around a bit.

the last time i had something like this happend to me, it would only happen around 40-60mph. it sounds like coins or ish in a can. I took it into the dealership and it ended up being my driving belt and tensioner. The only time I could get it to make the noise if if I put stress on the car (ie: A/C on and going up a hill). Try going up a hill with ur a/c on and see if it happens. if it does then i'd take it into the dealership. if ur under 36K then it should be covered by the warrenty..if ur above 36k then its not. i had to pay almost 700 for repairs :(

coins in glove box mayb? u check that?

might sound stupid but thats the noise you described and it could happen between certain rpm's if thats when vibration is at its greatest.

I had something very similar happen to my car. It was a bolt in the exhaust manifold that was broken. Dealer fixed it as it was under warranty.

i have that noise. what i suspect is the timing chain making noise. That what i hear. Mine was more at idle than 4-5k though. for a timing chain...it just normal wear and tear.
