    Last weekend's project

This is what I started last weekend.

Ended up with bright silver stripes with rainbow flake. I have a few clear runs to sand and buff out. :( But it came out pretty good considering this is my first big auto painting project.

More pics later - my compy died yesterday. This is the only pic to make it out alive - others will follow.

I think its kind of cool that he's actually painting them rater than useing stickers... infact I kind of want to see how it turned out... not that I'll do it but just to see what it looks like...

BTW Vortex painted his first rolla in his garage and it turned out freaking awsome...

Yeah, because its Vortex......he can do anything and make it turn out right:D Chuck Norris probably helped him though

You didnt continue it down to the front bumper.

Not over bumper: Yeah, in the front, I want the stripes to look like they are flowing out of the grill (which is painted the same as the stripes). But in the rear, the trunk is a square (not rounded). So I stopped before the bumper there too. On the other hand, I didn't want to clear out the whole rear bumper section. The stripes are painted and flaked. Then the whole panel (hood, roof, trunk) is cleared so that the edge of the stripe can be sanded flat. The bumper just added too much surface area that I didn't want to spend my $$$ on...

so you painted it and then cleared it then wet sanded the edges off. Did you wax it after?

Actually, first sanding is to get rid of the edges and make the surface flat. Then the whole panel is cleared out again. That's where I'm at now. There will be one more sanding with 1000 grit and a buff with a polishing compound. THEN after a month or two, I can wax the surface (lets the clear coat fully cure... the process takes weeks).

That's what the pros do, I'm just following their lead!!!
